CITRATES
SODIUM CITRATE
Product Category: CITRATES
Product: Sodium Citrate Product Code: C001
Information on Sodium Citrate
Sodium Citrate is an inorganic, white crystalline powder with a melting point of 150°C. It has a water solubility of 12 g/100 g of water. The product should be stored in a tightly closed container away from heat sources.
Synthesis / Manufacturing Process of Sodium Citrate
The main raw material is Citric Acid, which is available in anhydrous and monohydrate forms. Citric Acid is produced through a fermentation process using a carbohydrate source like corn-based starch or sugar beet molasses. Sodium Citrate is prepared by treating Citric Acid with Sodium Carbonate. Another technique for production is using solvent extraction.
