Synthesis / Manufacturing Process of Acetates
The major raw material for all the acetates is Glacial Acetic Acid. Acetic Acid was initially prepared by aerobic fermentation of Ethanol. Ethanol was catalytically oxidized to Acetaldehyde, which in turn oxidized to Acetic Acid. Today Acetic Acid is prepared by carboxylating methanol. Acetic Acid is present as a catalyst. Magnesium Acetate is manufactured by taking a reaction between Magnesium Oxide & Acetic Acid.

Magnesium Acetate is used in Food Industry, Pharmaceutical Industry & as a Laboratory Reagent. It can be used in the Dyeing of Ceramic, Tiles & Textiles. It can also be used as a Catalyst in Polyester Film Production, in Opaquing Paper manufacturing, in inks & in Off-set printing. In Pharmaceutical Industry, it can be used in Dialysis Solutions.
