Product: ZINC EDTA Product Code: M001

Information on Zinc EDTA

Zinc EDTA is a derivative of Ethylenediamine Tetraacetic Acid (EDTA). EDTA is a synthetic amino acid and a sequestering/chelating agent. The acid form is a white powder that is insoluble in water. Its salts and derivatives are used to dissolve metallic impurities. EDTA works by grabbing metallic cations like lead or calcium and forming a stable compound that is then excreted from the system.

Synthesis / Manufacturing Process of Zinc EDTA

The compound was first prepared in 1935 by Ferdinand Munz from Ethylenediamine (EDA) and Monochloroacetic acid.

  • Role of Zinc in Plant Growth:

    • It helps plant growth hormones and enzyme systems.

    • It plays an important role in chlorophyll production.

    • It is necessary for carbohydrate and starch formation.
